— 04 / The studio

A small studio,
properly built.

Blazen Labs is an AI-driven app development studio in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. We build production software for founders and operators — the kind that runs day one and still runs in year three.

Studio principles

How we think about the work.

Principle 01

Operators first.

We build for the person who will actually use the software on Monday. Not the VP who signed the cheque, not the analyst writing the deck. If the operator can't describe what changed, we shipped the wrong thing.

Principle 02

Production or nothing.

Prototypes are easy. Production is the work. Every engagement ends with a live deploy, a runbook, and a team that can operate it without us — or we didn't finish.

Principle 03

AI as a tool, not a theme.

We use language models where they earn their keep — retrieval, drafting, classification, codegen. We don't use them as a marketing wrapper. The product has to work with the AI off, too.

Principle 04

Small teams, short cycles.

Two to four people on a project, max. Weekly demos on your data. No slide reviews, no Gantt charts, no status-of-the-status meetings. The code is the status.

Principle 05

Taste is a feature.

Typography, spacing, motion, naming — these compound. We treat the craft of software as seriously as the function. It's cheaper to build it right than to re-skin it later.

— Location

Built in Coimbatore.

We’re based out of a studio in Ram Nagar — a quiet part of the city’s old commercial district. Coimbatore has a deep bench of engineering talent, a cost base that lets us take on serious work at sensible rates, and the distance from the Bangalore hype machine to keep a level head.

— Reach

Serving globally.

Half our work is for Indian SMBs — chartered accountants, brokerages, education operators. The other half is for founders in the US, UK, and Southeast Asia who want a full-stack AI team without the Silicon Valley price tag. We work in IST, overlap with GMT, and run async the rest.

  • OverlapGMT · EST AM
  • Async onLinear · GitHub · Slack

— On AI, briefly

Most “AI companies” you’ll evaluate this year are a prompt, an API key, and a pitch deck. We think the interesting work is in the boring parts — data plumbing, evaluation, guardrails, the hundred small decisions that decide whether a model is useful at 9am on a Tuesday.

If you’re building something that has to work — get in touch.
